Newport-Mesa Unified School District offers the following no-cost Summer Programs to current 6th- through 11th-grade students. Some programs are offered in collaboration with educational partners. Contact us for more information.

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAMS 
Offered to current students in 8th through 11th grades.

In-Person Credit Recovery

June 15 - July 10, 2026 | Monday - Friday
TeWinkle Middle School | 8:30 am-12:30 pm

The following courses are available (may enroll in one class): Algebra I, Comp. Lit. 1, Physical Education 1 & 2.

Independent Study - Original Credit

June 15 - July 10, 2026 | Monday - Friday
Monte Vista Independent Study

The following online courses are available: Economics, Geometry (program runs through July 23), Government, Health. Online Driver’s Education also available.

Special Education: Extended School Year (ESY)

June 15 - July 10, 2026
TeWinkle Middle School

Extended School Year (ESY) is available for qualifying students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Contact your special education case carrier.

Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. Sac)

Online credit recovery for the following courses is available (may take up to 10 credits): Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Comp. Lit., Enhanced Math, Geometry, US History, World History. Limited electives are also available.

College Dual Enrollment

NMUSD has a partnership with Coastline College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College to offer free college classes for students. Students receive high school and college credit. A variety of courses are available online and in-person.

OCDE ACCESS

Some students may qualify for online credit recovery through the Orange County Department of Education’s ACCESS program. See your school counselor for more information. Requires principal approval.


MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAMS
Offered to current students in 6th through 7th grades.

Summer Bridge Program

Who: Incoming 7th-grade students.

Where: Each NMUSD Middle/Intermediate School.

When: Please check with your school.

What: Optional 3- to 4-day program for all students transitioning from 6th to 7th grade, introducing them to life in middle school.

More info: Each middle/intermediate school will send information to parents of incoming 7th-grade students.

AVID Summer Scholar Language Academy

Who: Middle school English learners.

Where: TeWinkle Middle School.

When: June 15-July 10, 2026.

What: Enrichment opportunity for English learners to increase their language skills in a fun, dynamic way.

Math Acceleration

Who: Invitation-only to qualifying students entering 8th grade.

Where: TeWinkle Middle School or Online via Monte Vista Independent Study.

When: June 15-July 10, 2026.

What: Math acceleration program.

More info: Parents of eligible middle school students will receive information in April.
