Currently, we plan to begin school as scheduled on Monday, August 21, 2023.

We want you to be confident in our preparation for possible inclement weather next week, as reports have mentioned potentially strong storms expected in Southern California. We actively monitor various weather and news sources, such as the National Weather Service, and plan for various scenarios. In the extreme event that one or more schools may close, you will receive communication from your school and may visit the school or district website for the most up-to-date information. Please keep your phone or computer available to check messages and texts. Please take any necessary precautions to prepare your family.  If you determine that your student needs to stay home for safety, please call in the absence and be assured their enrollment, scheduling, and standing will not be affected.

Our District has taken proactive steps to mitigate potential storm impacts. We have plastic tarps, sandbags, and other equipment on hand if anticipated storms impact our schools and offices. We also have maintenance teams on standby to check for roof or other leaks and provide immediate support to mitigate and resolve potential impacts of the storm so that we can maintain continuous learning. This team will continually monitor conditions throughout the weekend, and we will update you if we believe anything will impact the start of school.

We also have strong partnerships with the Cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach and their fire and police departments; and County agencies, such as Ready OC, Orange County's emergency preparedness resource; and AlertOC, which is a mass notification system designed to keep residents and businesses informed about emergencies and other important events.

There is nothing more important to us than safety, and we want you to know that we have plans, systems, equipment, partnerships, and people in place to foster safety as a top priority.

We look forward to a beautiful start to the 2023-24 school year and are excited to welcome students to school on Monday. Be safe and enjoy the weekend.
