Principal's Letter

Hello Early College High School Family,

On the heels of what has been a very unusual closing to our 2019-20 school year, I am positively eager to see what the 2020-21 school year has in store for our students as ECHS heads into its 15th year. Over half of our students earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher this past semester qualifying them to be on the Principal's Honor Roll! We had a Class of 2020 graduate this past year whereby 76% of them are heading to a 4-year college/university entering at a level higher than an incoming Freshman status!

Over two-thirds of our students are AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students, putting themselves in great position to be both college and career ready upon graduating from high school. A significant number of these students will end up being in AVID all 4 years at ECHS. We have a Class of 2021 whereby coming into their Senior year, the average Senior has already accumulated 232 credits (220 credits are needed to earn a diploma) in their first three years of high school. Heading into 2020-21, we are excited to be hosting an ROP (Regional Occupational Program) course in Medical Careers & Health Systems on our campus that will be accessible to all ECHS Juniors and Seniors.

Lastly, ECHS this past year was the only school in our district to earn the PBIS (Positive Behavior & Intervention Supports) Platinum Level Award after completing its third year as a PBIS school! ECHS has developed a robust system in promoting positive school culture, building student connections, and providing direct mental health services for our students' social-emotional needs.

I encourage our parents and families to be partners with us in the various ways you can help support our school. Your involvement is critical in enhancing your child's educational experience while in high school. Please consider taking part in our PTSA and our School Site Council. These are two excellent opportunities for you to be a direct contributor to our school's efforts in moving forward.

The 2020-21 school year promises to be a great experience for our students and we look forward to you being a part of the experience as a partner with our school!
