Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Dipali Potnis as principal of Costa Mesa High School (CMHS). Dr. Potnis comes to CMHS after five years as principal at TeWinkle Middle School.

Dr. Potnis brings with her several years of high school experience, having served in the Capistrano Unified School District as an assistant principal focusing on student support services as well as curriculum and instruction. She was also a high school activities director. Prior to that, she was an instructional coach and teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District

At TeWinkle, Dr. Potnis focused on the whole child and bringing the community together. She created systems of support to promote academic achievement for all students. Most recently, she also helped the school approve a seven-period schedule to allow students the opportunity to take additional elective courses.

“Dr. Potnis has the experience to meet the challenges of being the principal of a comprehensive high school,” said Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Kerrie Torres. “Her track record shows she is a collaborative leader focused on student opportunity and achievement.”

Dr. Potnis received her Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California; her Administrative Credential from the University of California, Irvine; her Master’s Degree in Education from University of California, Los Angeles; and her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. She will start at CMHS on July 1.
