Principal's Letter

Hello Early College High School Families,

We are coming off one of the most prolific school years in ECHS’s 17-year history based on our staff’s and students’ accomplishments. New highs were established with the number of ECHS graduates earning their IGETC, earning Associate of Arts/Science Degrees, and students in all grades qualifying for the California Scholarship Federation Award. Our yearlong schoolwide GPA rose to a new high putting our returning students in a great position as strong candidates for the colleges and universities they’ll apply to.

In addition, ECHS was named a 2022 PBIS Platinum Award High School for the second time in our history along with earning the 2023 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence Award, the first NMUSD school to ever receive this designation and the only school from California among the 23 schools total (elementary, middle and high) nationwide in 2023. These recognitions are a pure reflection of our entire ECHS Team (teachers, counselors, front office, parents and all site support staff members)!

As we enter the 2023-2024 school year, we are in a position to earn the 2023 PBIS Platinum Award as well as other statewide and nationwide awards to come later in the school year. We will continue to serve our students with 11 full-time high school teachers and 11 Coastline College adjunct professors while they have access to a high school counselor, college counselor and college dual enrollment director. We also look forward to our upcoming WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Accreditation Visit in mid-October as we seek to extend our current accreditation to June 30, 2030.

I encourage our parents and families to be partners with ECHS. Your involvement is vital as we continue to enhance your child’s educational experience and opportunities. Please consider to take part in our PTSA this coming school year as there will be many ways you can offer your service.

Let’s continue the momentum together in the name of our young people’s future!

Keep Pressing On!
