Principal's Letter

Dear Early College High School Families, 

Welcome to ECHS! I am honored to serve as your principal and to be part of such an exceptional school community.

This year marks my 26th year in education, with 25 of those years proudly serving students and families in Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as an English teacher for 15 years, and as a secondary school administrator for the past 10 years. Every role has strengthened my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a supportive school culture are the foundations of student success.

I believe in being visible, approachable, and accessible to students, families, and staff. My goal is to create an environment where every student feels known, valued, challenged, and supported. I also believe that clear communication, collaboration, and strong systems help schools thrive, and I look forward to partnering with our families and community as we continue to provide outstanding opportunities for our students.

Early College High School is truly a special place. Students have the unique opportunity to earn significant college credit through Coastline College while completing their high school diploma, often graduating with one to two years of transferable college coursework already completed. Our school has earned state and national recognition for excellence, including designation as a California Distinguished School, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and a National Blue Ribbon School. We are also proud to be a multiple-time California PBIS Award recipient, reflecting our commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

As I begin this journey with the Early College High School family, I am committed to honoring the traditions and accomplishments that have made this school so successful while continuing to build on its legacy of excellence. I look forward to getting to know our students, families, staff, Coastline College partners, and PTSA, and to working together to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, career, and life.
