Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports

PBIS Mission Statement

California PBIS Coalition promotes a safe and positive social culture in all California school communities by:

  • Sharing effective academic and behavior practices

  • Providing opportunities for networking

  • Supporting deeper learning of PBIS implementation

  • Using fidelity and outcome data to inform our practice

ECHS became a PBIS Implementation school in our school district in the 2016-17 school year. We have a 4-member PBIS team comprised of our Activities Director (PBIS Coach), High School Counselor, Campus Safety Facilitator, and Principal. We look at ways to recognize those students who display the positive behavior character traits that make up PBIS throughout the school year. This is done through our GOTCHA Program, the Semester Citizenship Awards, and the Annual Awards Night.

In the 2017-18 school year, we implemented our PBIS Matrix of Expected Behaviors to be exhibited by all who attend ECHS. This behavior matrix was developed by our ASB with input from our ECHS Staff, School Site Council and PTSA. Below is our ECHS PBIS matrix where we are striving to commit to the behaviors "Every Day, Every Time, Every Where."

In the 2018-19 school year, after being named a PBIS Award school for a second straight year, our PBIS team meets twice per month to review and identify any new Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 PBIS supported supported students on our campus. Our PBIS Coach shares updates on our Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 students with the whole staff on selected monthly late start meeting sessions.
